Votte Hall Puts the Dream in “Motion Pt. 2” Alongside Hip-Hop Legend AZ

For Votte Hall, “Motion Pt. 2” featuring AZ is more than a record about success, it’s a reflection on what it takes to reach it. The Atlanta-based R&B artist turns perseverance, sacrifice and personal evolution into a soulful celebration of finally seeing years of work produce results. Produced by LaDamon “FatBoi” Douglas, this track combines polished R&B melodies with hard-hitting trap drums and 808s, giving Hall room to move between smooth vocals and a more contemporary rhythmic delivery. The story deliberately contrasts difficult beginnings with the rewards of persistence, making “Motion Pt. 2” a record about remembering where you came from even when life begins to look very different.

Hall’s journey gives that message additional weight. Before larger stages and industry recognition, he spent years balancing music with the responsibilities of a corporate career, building his artistry while maintaining an everyday professional life. His catalog stretches back more than a decade, including the I Fux With Me EP in 2015, In My Own Lane in 2017 and the 2018 single “Kiss on Me.” More recently, his 2024 album Heartbreaker helped broaden his international audience. His musical foundation remains R&B and soul, but his work also draws from Afrobeats and global rhythms, with Hall citing Gullah Geechee, African and Caribbean cultural roots as part of the wider musical identity behind his sound.

That history makes the concept behind “Motion Pt. 2” especially fitting. The song speaks to the period between believing in something and finally watching it happen—the years when an artist, entrepreneur or working professional may be building privately while the rest of the world sees little evidence of what is coming. Hall revisits struggle while also allowing himself to celebrate progress, moving lyrically from memories of leaner circumstances toward the lifestyle that persistence has helped him build. Rather than presenting success as something that simply arrived, the record frames it as the result of continuing to work when the destination was still uncertain. That balance between reflection and celebration gives the track an accessible message: keep working until the dream begins to move.

Adding AZ to that message brings a significant piece of New York hip-hop history into Hall’s contemporary R&B world. Born Anthony Cruz and raised in Brooklyn, AZ made his landmark introduction on “Life’s a Bitch” from Nas’ 1994 album Illmatic before releasing his own debut, Doe or Die, in 1995. That album reached No. 1 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop albums chart, while its signature single “Sugar Hill” became a gold-certified hit. AZ later joined Nas, Foxy Brown and Nature in The Firm and continued building a career recognized for intricate rhyme patterns, controlled delivery and vivid lyricism. His collaboration with Nas, “The Essence,” earned a Grammy nomination, and his recording career has continued across decades, including Doe or Die II, Truth Be Told and 2026’s Doe or Die III.

On “Motion Pt. 2,” Votte Hall and AZ connect two musical generations without forcing either artist away from his identity. Hall supplies the melody, ambition and emotional center, while AZ brings the seasoned perspective of an MC whose own longevity embodies the song’s theme of perseverance. FatBoi’s production provides the bridge between those worlds, allowing modern Southern R&B energy and classic East Coast lyricism to occupy the same space. The result feels both celebratory and reflective: a record for people who have spent years betting on themselves, working beyond what others could see and waiting for effort to become momentum. With “Motion Pt. 2,” Votte Hall is not simply celebrating where he is, he is documenting the road that put him there, with one of hip-hop’s enduring lyricists riding alongside him.
